Abortion Access And The LGBTQ+ Community

LGBTQ+ people are affected by reproductive issues like abortion restrictions. All LGBTQ+- identified people who could become pregnant are at risk for an unintended pregnancy. In fact, studies have shown that young lesbian cisgender women are two to ten times more likely to become pregnant than young heterosexual cisgender women. One study shows that up to 30% of transgender men have experienced an unintended pregnancy. There is a dearth of reliable statistics for LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender people who can become pregnant, and we know these statistics are likely under representative of actual challenge and need.
