TELL YOUR SENATORS TO VOTE YES ON THE EQUALITY ACT

Discrimination is still commonplace for LGBTQ+ Americans, and over half of all LGBTQ+ people live in states with no comprehensive protections. The Equality Act would ensure that all LGBTQ+ Americans can live, work, and access public spaces free from discrimination, no matter what state they call home.

The nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute recently found that national support for the Equality Act is around 83 percent. This is the strongest level of support the bill has ever seen. We must tell lawmakers that now is the time to pass this legislation.

Take action today by contacting your Senator by email or phone. It's so simple, just a few clicks will get it done. You can even record a 30-second video! Simply follow the prompts.

OPEN ENROLLMENT IS BACK UNTIL MAY 15TH

Thanks to the administration’s decision to authorize a broad special enrollment period, the marketplaces are once again open for anyone who is uninsured or needs to find a new plan.

All LGBTQ+  people are protected from discrimination when it comes to health insurance and health care. Learn more at out2enroll.org and don’t miss out on your second chance to enroll in health insurance! Visit HealthCare.gov today before the May 15th deadline.

LET’S MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD

Ensuring that LGBTQ+ people can access and be treated fairly by the health care system is essential to improving our safety, well-being, and dignity. As we work to create policies that directly address our needs, we must uplift the voices of LGBTQ+ people experiencing discrimination and stigma. The LGBTQ+ Research and Communications Project at Center for American Progress conducts research and advocacy to improve the lives and rights of LGBTQ+ people.

Center for American Progress wants to hear your story. They’re conducting interviews with LGBTQ+ people like you in order to bring the voices that matter into our research and activism. They are particularly interested in the experiences of LGBTQ+ people with the health care system. From uninsurance and cost to gatekeeping and harassment, we face unique and diverse barriers to receiving the care we deserve, barriers which must be brought to the attention of policymakers and the public.

Interviews will be used in reports, videos, media, and/or advocacy to advance meaningful policy change. Interviews can be anonymous. If you’re interested in participating, please contact: Theo Santos (she/her) at tsantos@americanprogress.org or 203-675-3140.
