This past year, we worked together to mobilize, advocate for, and educate thousands of members of the LGBTQ community and our allies. People of all ages, cultures, and religions participated in our #PromoteTheVote campaign, sign-on letters, public comment requests, and webinars. Here's an overview of how your actions – and the actions of your local LGBTQ center – enabled us to be a loud voice in the fight for equality in 2018. You rose to the challenge, and we thank you for your dedication and hard work.

Health Care and Religious Freedom: 200,000 people told the Department of Health and Human Services that a person should never have to worry about being denied health care based on who they are. We had so many responses, our website crashed for a few hours!
Aderholt Amendment: We helped to strike down a Labor-HHS-Education-Defense appropriations bill with a foster care and adoption license to discriminate measure that suggested punishing organizations and states who adopted to LGBTQ families by revoking funding.
Open To All Campaign: Over 60 LGBTQ community centers and 2,000 corporations joined the coalition, encouraging businesses across the nation to support nondiscrimination protections.
Care For Trans Veterans: 1/3 of the total public comments collected in support of comprehensive health care for transgender veterans came from CAN members.
#PromoteTheVote: 60+ LGBTQ centers utilized CAN's #PromoteTheVote toolkit, with center-specific social media messaging and graphics. Over 500 of you sent photos telling us why you felt it was important to vote.
Public Charge: CAN co-hosted an LGBTQ-focused informational webinar with attendance tripling projected numbers, and over 100,000 public comments were collected in support of protecting LGBTQ immigrant families.
