Who We Are

The Senior Mob Squad is a community of volunteer older adult advocates living in Los Angeles County, who are dedicated to protecting and expanding the rights of the LGBTQ community.  The group is housed under the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Senior Services Department.

Through education, actions, and leadership development, the Mob Squad mobilizes volunteers to engage in meaningful and experienced-based actions that impact policy decisions on the local, state, and federal level to help protect the rights of LGBTQ community.  Our priority policy campaigns include:

  • Healthcare
  • Immigration
  • Education
  • Housing and Homelessness
  • Equality and Discrimination
  • Anti-Violence
  • Transgender Issues

Previous actions have included letter-writing to expand the rights of LGBTQ immigrants in California, sharing stories to advocate for services and programs for LGBTQ older adults, composing postcards and letters to send to elected officials, lobby visits, and and joining marches and rallies to show our support for the LGBTQ community.

Senior Mob Squad News

Housing and Urban Development Special Delivery

Last week, The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Director of Government Relations Aaron Fox delivered over 100 postcards to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. Written by Senior Mob Squad members, the postcards explained why Ben Carson's "Making Affordable Housing Work Act" will NOT work for low income older adults. Our next meeting is July 11th at 5:30PM at Triangle Square, located at 1602 Ivar Avenue in Los Angeles. Join us for dinner and an action.

Mob Squad On KPFK Radio

On May Ed and Lee from the Senior Mob Squad talked to KPFK Radio's OUTAgenda about activism as an older adult.  Their interviews aired on Monday, June 14th, the start of Honor Our LGBTQ Elders week.
