On February 13th, the Iowa Senate's Local Government Committee will discuss Bill SF-508. This legislation is cited as the "Religious Freedom Restoration Act". It would actually create religious refusals or exemptions, which can be used to justify anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
Freedom of religion is important, and it means that we all have a right to our religious beliefs. But that does not give us the right to use our religion to discriminate against and impose those beliefs on others who do not share them.
Will you take a moment to contact the Chair of the Local Government Committee and tell him that as a constituent of the State of Iowa, you oppose this legislation? Here is his information and a sample script.

Here's what you can say:
It's becoming more common to hear about cases of people, businesses, and organizations refusing to provide services to LGBTQ+ people based on religious objections. Freedom of religion is important, but it does not give us the right to use our religion to discriminate against or impose those beliefs on others. I urge you to oppose SF-508.
