Meet Robert - the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Senior Policy Advocate & Community Organizer. We asked him our favorite three get-to-know-you-better questions. Here are his answers.
Describe your love of pizza and how it relates to the Resistance Squad.
I love all things pizza. It really doesn’t matter what the toppings are, what kind of dough, thickness or cheese. It’s all delicious and made by the Gods themselves. If I were offered a preference, I would go with the Meat Lovers and very spicy. Yes please! How this relates to the Resistance Squad, is that no matter what we are working on together, I’m going to love it!
When you are not phonebanking, how do you spend your Sundays?
Almost anything. I can sleep in, go to breakfasts, lunches and/or dinners, sometimes go to an AA meeting, or go on a hike, or clean my house, or paint sculptures or play my saxophone, read books, write in my journal, traveling, day trips, bookstores, art stores, Farmer’s Markets especially the one on Fairfax, doing meal prep for the week, listening to podcasts or audiobooks, etc. It’s really a day of ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!
What is one thing you hope to get out of your time working with the Resistance Squad volunteers?
I love meeting new people. The Resistance Squad volunteers I have met so far have set the bar pretty high at how enthusiastic, smart and engaging they have been. I can’t think of a finer way of meeting and working with people than knowing we are saving lives and kicking ass out there in the world. Our goal is to keep people from dying in the streets! Let’s save lives together!
