"Like most nonprofits, a government shutdown could have serious effects on the operations of LGBTQ centers, whose health, counseling, and educational services are vital to local communities," said Denise Spivak, CEO of Centerlink. "Some centers could see a lapse in payments and grants as well as other crucial government resources. Further, centers that provide food pantries and other basic-needs assistance would be greatly impacted by the increased need by community members whose assistance benefits are affected. It is our sincere hope, for these and so many other reasons, that a shutdown is averted."
